Where We Are

The Spinnaker Bar is situated at Lower Village, Dunmore East, Co. Waterford — right on the harbour front. Dunmore East is a beautiful fishing village on the Waterford coast, tucked into the western headland of Waterford Harbour. When you arrive in the village and head for the harbour, The Spinnaker is right there in front of you.

From Waterford City (16km — approx. 20 min)

From Waterford City centre, take the R684 south following signs for Dunmore East. The road takes you through Checkpoint and along the Waterford Estuary coast before dropping down into Dunmore East village. Once you're in the village, follow the road straight down to the harbour — The Spinnaker Bar is at the bottom, facing the water.

This is the most direct route and the road is in good condition throughout. Allow around 20 minutes in normal traffic, slightly longer in summer when tourist traffic can slow things at the village entrance.

From Tramore (approx. 22km — 25 min)

From Tramore, take the R675 east towards Waterford, then join the R684 south towards Dunmore East. Alternatively, take the coastal road through Fenor and Fenór to Checkpoint and then south to Dunmore East. The journey takes around 25 minutes in normal conditions. It's a scenic drive through the Waterford countryside and along the coast.

From Wexford (approx. 60km — 45–50 min)

From Wexford Town, there are two main options:

From Kilkenny (approx. 65km — 55 min)

From Kilkenny, take the N10 east towards Waterford and then join the N25 briefly before taking the R684 south to Dunmore East. The drive takes around 55 minutes. It's a pleasant road through the Kilkenny and Waterford countryside.

From Cork (approx. 170km — about 2 hours)

From Cork, take the N25 east all the way to Waterford and then the R684 south to Dunmore East. The route is motorway and national road for most of the journey, with the final stretch being a pleasant coastal drive. Allow around 2 hours from Cork city.

From Dublin (approx. 180km — about 2 hours 15 min)

From Dublin, take the M9 motorway south towards Waterford, then follow the N25 briefly and the R684 south to Dunmore East. The motorway portion of the journey is fast and straightforward. Dunmore East is a popular day trip destination from Dublin, particularly in summer.

Parking in Dunmore East

Free public car parking is available in and around Dunmore East village. There is a car park near the harbour and additional parking along the village roads. During the peak summer season (June to August) and on bank holiday weekends, parking can get very busy, particularly around midday and in the afternoon. Arriving early, or visiting on a weekday, means you'll have no trouble finding a spot.

Public Transport

Bus Éireann operates a service to Dunmore East from Waterford City on certain routes. Timetables vary by season. For the most up-to-date bus times, check buseireann.ie. Taxis are available from Waterford City — a fare to Dunmore East typically costs around €20–€25 each way.

Once You're in the Village

Dunmore East is a small village and very easy to navigate on foot. From the main car park, it's a short walk down to the harbour where The Spinnaker Bar is located. The bar is hard to miss — look for the terrace and deck facing the harbour. If in doubt, ask any local and they'll point you right to us.
